The third edition of the Atlas of Ear Surgery is substantially the same as the second edition. There are small additions, specifically concerning the newer synthetics in the making of prostheses used in tympanoplasty and transections of the posterior ampullar nerve for relief of benign paroxysmal vertigo. The format of the text and the accompanying illustrations maintain the descriptive clarity of previous editions. Clinicians and residents will find this a useful addendum to their library. However, for those who possess the second edition of the book, I do not feel there are substantial additions to warrant replacing your second edition.
