To the Editor.—When reading "Glomus Jugulare Tumor: Disseminated Form in the Central Nervous System," I was skeptical that it was a glomus tumor. The abundant and excellent illustrations seemed more compatible with meningeal sarcomatosis. The authors were kind enough to send the actual tissue sections for review. After studying them, I believe this is indeed a case of meningeal sarcomatosis and not a glomus jugulare tumor. The characteristic vascular background of a glomus tumor intermixed with the neoplastic chief cells is absent.

Metastases from glomus tumors certainly occur but are uncommon. The sites of involvement are regional lymph nodes, liver, lungs, and bone. Thus far, spread within the CNS has not been documented.
