In Reply.—Thank you for your letter regarding the recent report of bilateral synchronous mixed tumors of the parotid gland that appeared in the Archives of Otolaryngology (101:751-753, 1975). I assure you that Dr. Fitz-Hugh and I did not intentionally overlook your report of a similar case in the ARCHIVES (94:158-161, 1971).
In reviewing the case reports in your bibliography, I found five additional cases plus your case report that met the criteria for our report. We were aware of other reports of asynchronous occurrences, recurrences, and multiple occurrences in other salivary glands. Despite the omission in our bibliography that you have pointed out, we hope our report has made a contribution to the literature regarding this rare occurrence.
