Interdisciplinary cooperation is much in evidence in the timely appearance of this monograph. It provides a most useful basis for the practical clinical understanding of disorders of ocular motility by ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons.
The first two chapters are concerned primarily with a brief but informative discussion on the anatomy and pathophysiology of the oculomotor system, the latter term being used in its widest sense.
Chapter 3 deals with the clinical examination of the eye movement systems, including electronystagmography, providing the clinician with a well-organized approach to this sometimes difficult problem. Chapter 4 is devoted to a detailed presentation of all forms of nystagmus, both ocular and vestibular, as well as the associated non-nystagmic abnormal eye movements. Chapter 5 deals principally with the vestibular system, both peripheral and central, and the influence of disease of the systems on ocular motility.
