PATHOLOGIC QUIZ CASE 1

A 51-year-old man had a neck mass on the right side that was 2 cm in diameter. The remainder of the head and neck examination results were normal. In the course of evaluation, random biopsy specimens of the nasopharynx showed the tissue seen in Fig 1 and 2. The neck mass was subsequently excised, revealing poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. A radiogram of the chest showed a mass that is presumed to be the primary lesion. The adenocarcinoma in the node bore no resemblance whatsoever to the lesion seen in Fig 1 and 2.
