Over 39 authors participate to make this volume the most complete reference on ear reconstruction. The topics are divided into four parts: congenital deformities of the auricle, traumatic deformities of the auricle, associated congenital facial deformities, and a conclusion by Dr. Radford C. Tanzer entitled Reflections and Projections. The volume flows smoothly from an introductory anatomy, embryology and classification of defects, to auricular reconstruction using various techniques.

Chapters are included by Dr. Robert A. Jahrsdoerfer and Dr. Eugene Derlacki concerning reconstruction of hearing and associated middle ear defects. The book has a separate section devoted to associated congenital facial deformities that are so commonly found with the congenital forms of auricular deformities. Besides an excellent bibliography, the volume includes a section at the end of each chapter with discussion by the panelists and the audience.
