We thank Chonmaitree for her comments on our article. She emphasizes the "new information" presented that vURTIs without a coldlike illness (CLI) can cause OM but notes that we had not enumerated the AOM episodes in the 18 rhinovirus (RV) cases with no CLIs. Further analysis of the data set in the current study to address the question revealed no statistically significant difference (P = .37) in the AOM rate in RV-positive cases between CLI-negative (17%) and CLI-positive (8%) presentations.
