LIFELONG LEARNING is a prerequisite for personal and professional growth and is so important that it is now one of the "Core Competencies" that must be integrated into each residency training program. After residency we must continue to learn and develop our personal knowledge and skills to render an informed and evidence-based treatment to our patients. The fact that you are reading this issue of the ARCHIVES is evidence of your dedication to your profession.

But aside from reading these pages, we all have an increasing need to document this continuing medical education (CME) for licensing boards, hospital credentialing, and societal memberships. In the legalistic environment in which we all exist, "not documented" is "not done"!
