A 2-YEAR-OLD boy presented with difficulty in hearing. His prenatal and perinatal history did not reveal any trauma, infection, or drug use. The audiological evaluation demonstrated a hearing threshold of 110 dB hearing level in conditioned auditory visual response; and it was not possible to obtain a response at 110 dB sound pressure level on brainstem-evoked response audiometry. High-resolution tomography revealed a deformed left inner ear, forming an ovoid cystic space without internal architecture (Figure 1, arrow). An axial computed tomographic scan of the left ear showed that the cystic space was in direct communication (Figure 2, small arrow) with a narrow internal auditory canal (Figure 2, large arrow). The same features were observed in the right ear (Figure 3, arrow, and Figure 4, arrow).
