A 39-YEAR-OLD black woman from Zaire presented with a 7-month history of a left-sided painless cheek mass over the zygoma. The mass had increased in size over the last month. The patient also reported having struck her cheek on a cement floor approximately 1 year earlier. The findings of her physical examination were notable for an upper left cervical lymph node that was tender to palpation, as well as a nontender mass measuring approximately 5x8 cm over the left zygoma (Figure 1). There was no evidence of intraoral or intraocular extension. The patient subsequently underwent surgery in which an intraoral approach was used in an attempt to remove the tumor and to limit possible keloid formation. The tumor was resected in a near-total fashion.
