Silicone Rubber Stent

An Improved Form of Ear Packing

W. Orlan Akin, MD; Howard A. Tobin, MD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1974;99(6):462-463.

Abstract

Silicone rubber impression material was adapted as a postoperative otologic stent. This material fulfilled all criteria for the ideal ear packing; in addition, it offered the benefit of ease of application and less tissue reactivity during the initial healing phase.
