Ocular Hypertension Following Use of an Antral Balloon

Howard K. Gelman, MD; William R. Janzen, MD; Emanuel M. Skolnik, MD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1974;99(6):449-450.

Abstract

Acute ocular hypertension was caused by excessive inflation of an intramaxillary sinus balloon used to splint an orbital floor fracture. Intraocular pressure returned to normal with decompression of the balloon, thus avoiding possible permanent visual impairment.
