Pseudosarcomatous Changes in Antrochoanal Polyps

Curran J. Smith, MD; Rene Echevarria, MD; Lt Col Claude A. McLelland, MC

Arch Otolaryngol. 1974;99(3):228-230.

Abstract

Two patients with antrochoanal polyps with pseudosarcomatous changes noted on histologic examination of the specimens are reported. The bizarre cellular structure of the lesions initially caused confusion of these benign polyps with sarcomas. The surgeon and pathologist are alerted to the occurrence of these changes, and caution is recommended in readily accepting a diagnosis of malignant neoplasm in otherwise typical-appearing antrochoanal polyps.
