Abstract
An example of what we have termed focal muscular hyperplasia of the trachea is described. This lesion has not been previously documented, to our knowledge, in the English-language literature.

Originating in the membranous portion of the trachea, it was composed of hyperplastic smooth muscle bundles and was responsible for the production of mild respiratory symptoms. While its pathogenesis is uncertain, we favor the possibility that it represents a response to some unknown mechanical or inflammatory stimulus.
