Abstract
An anomaly of the posterior crista in a human temporal bone is presented. No completely similar anomaly, to our knowledge, has been previously described.

The crista described here has a bulge on the utricular slope. The cytoarchitecture of the sensory epithelium of the bulge corresponds closely to the cytoarchitecture of the peripheral zone of the crista. The morphological polarization has the same direction away from the utricle as the main crista. The cupula of the posterior crista has a protrusion covering the anomaly. The structure is most likely a crista neglecta which is connected to, but not completely incorporated in, the posterior crista.
