Posterior and Complete Laryngeal (Glottic) Stenosis
William W. Montgomery, MD
Arch Otolaryngol. 1973;98(3):170-175.
Abstract
Posterior glottic stenosis may occur as a separate entity or as a part of complete glottic stenosis. Posterior glottic stenosis is repaired using a superiorly based mucosal flap.
Mucosal pedicled flaps, skin or mucous membrane grafts, are necessary when repairing complete glottic stenosis, unless the involvement is limited to the true vocal cords. A conforming silicone laryngeal stent is inserted following this repair. The techniques for these repairs are described and illustrated.
