Tertiary Syphilis of the Mouth
Leon L. Titche, MD
Arch Otolaryngol. 1972;96(5):460-463.
Abstract
With the discovery of penicillin 25 years ago, the definitive treatment for syphilis seemed to have been developed. The subsequent appearance of tertiary lesions in individuals treated with this antibiotic evidently is due to inadequate dosage and an improper administration, since it is fully capable of a clinical cure. The increasing current incidence of all types of venereal disease will result in further instances similar to that of the case presented here unless precautions are taken to ensure proper and adequate treatment.
