Abstract
The surgeon performing cosmetic surgery must develop a particular insight relative to his patients which differs somewhat from attitudes serving the surgeon dealing with the catastrophic surgical problems of life. The pathologic, anatomic and esthetic principles of patient selection are well documented. Personal experience with cosmetic surgical patients evolves a pattern of selection of the rhinoplasty patient by the surgeon as well as the selection of the surgeon by the patient selecting you as the surgeon; the type of person who desires rhinoplasty and the relative proficiency of the surgeon.
