Cochlear Potentials of Scorbutic Guinea Pigs

Robert E. Brummett, PhD; George Horrell; Jack Vernon, PhD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1971;93(3):292-296.

Abstract

The induction of scurvy in guinea pigs results in a reversible decrease in the alternating current cochlear potential. Both the sensitivity and intensity function are affected. There is considerable variation in the effect and it appears that there may be a continuum of responses. No histologic damage was found that would easily explain the effects.
