Abstract
The large frontoethmoid osteoma has been an enigma to many surgeons. For while this tumor is benign, its removal has often led to ocular and intracranial complications, to say nothing of the unsightly depression deformities of the brow and forehead. A large osteoma of the right orbit was successfully removed from our patient via a dacryocystorhinostomy approach utilizing a mastoid drill and perforating bur as opposed to the more popular hammer-and-chisel technique. The surgery was uncomplicated, the frontal margin of the orbit was maintained, and the patient is now seven years postoperative with normal ocular function and good cosmetic result.
