Repeated Aspiration of Multiple Hypodermic Needles

Kanhaiyalal Kantu, MD; Philip J. Aretsky, MD; Ira A. Polisar, MD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1970;92(3):286-287.

Abstract

The clinical picture of an aspirated foreign body differs from case to case according to its size, nature, and the site of lodgment in the airway. Usually the history is of a short-term onset of symptoms. However, occasionally these patients present with cough and vague chest complaints only, and in this group, x-ray finding of a foreign body is coincidental. The case report herein was that of repeated aspiration of hypodermic needles by a narcotic addict.
