Abstract
A study of ten rhinophyma cases in which excising treatment was alternated between "coldknife" surgery and electrosurgery is described. The electrocautery cases were quicker to do and lost less blood, but required more judgment, since an additional amount of tissue must be left to allow for later slough due to local heating effects at the time of excision. When this latter principle was observed, the final cosmetic results were identical.
