Revision of the Posttracheotomy Scar

Correction of the Depressed, Retracted Scar

Michael L. Lewin, MD; Hugo F. Keunen, MD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1970;91(4):395-397.

Abstract

Poulard's method of correction of depressed scars is "resurrected." The modifications presented here extend the usefulness of this procedure to more extensive depressions. While they are applicable to most depressed, retracted, adherent scars anywhere on the body, they are particularly useful in the correction of the disfiguring tracheotomy scar.
