Abstract
The incidence of cardiac metastases in a series of 1,047 autopsies on patients with disseminated malignancy was 147 cases or 14.1%. Sixteen patients had laryngeal carcinoma and four had gross and microscopic cardiac metastasis. One of these four presented with signs and symptoms of a myocardial infarction. At autopsy, there was massive cardiac replacement by metastatic carcinoma. Cardiac signs and symptoms in patients with known malignancy should alert the clinician to the possibility of metastatic disease involving the heart.
