Augmentation Mentoplasty With Polyamide MeshUpdate

Abstract
Augmentation mentoplasty, a cosmetic surgical procedure to reshape the contour of the mental area, usually requires insertion of an alloplastic material. Polyamide mesh was used in a ten-year experience; the technique is described. Results in the more than 400 patients have been uniformly good. Consistent advantages are ease of insertion that facilitates the surgical procedure, minimal postoperative morbidity or reaction, flexibility in conforming to the shape of the mandible, postoperative ingrowth of fibrous tissues precluding late displacement, and a natural feel to the reconstructed area.
