Abstract
Autoimmune sensorineural hearing loss was first described in 1979. This may be secondary to a systemic autoimmune disease, or in some cases, to a direct autoimmune insult to the labyrinth. A case of active ulcerative colitis and progressive sensorineural hearing loss responded to corticosteroid therapy.
