Granular Cell Myoblastoma of the Trachea

Stanley E. Thawley, MD; Joseph H. Ogura, MD

Arch Otolaryngol. 1974;100(5):393-394.

Abstract

Granular cell myoblastoma is an uncommon, benign lesion that occurs most commonly in the tongue. Within the respiratory tract, these lesions appear most frequently in the larynx, occasionally in the bronchus, and rarely in the trachea. The treatment is local excision.

Our tracheal case has been observed for eight years without evidence of progression or recurrence, although initial excision was "inadequate." The four other reported cases are reviewed.
