Abstract
In five cases, bronchial asthma appeared to be produced by paranasal sinusitis. In three patients, surgical drainage of paranasal sinuses were performed, and in two patients, medical management was instituted. In all patients, disappearance of bronchial asthma was promptly obtained after the appropriate sinus therapy. The pathogenesis of paranasal sinusitis-induced bronchial asthma remains unclear, but paranasal sinus infection should be considered in chronic asthmatic patients in whom skin tests to extrinsic allergens are negative.
